VIBRATIONAL SPECTRA OF MOLECULAR METAL NITRATE MONOMERS AND DIMERS

Vibrational spectra of the matrix isolated vapor species indicate that the monomeric ($MNO_{3}$ and $Cu(NO_{2})_{3})$ species is the dominant component although dimers ($MNO_{3})_{2}$ also occur over the alkali metal nitrates. The monomer spectra are informative as to the effect of strong cation association on the nitrate structure and force constants
