Author Institution: Department of Physics, The Ohio State UniversitySome initial results from a continuing program to measure the collision broadened line widths in HX-noble gas mixtures will be presented. These measurements are being made on the pure rotational HX transitions using a high resolution interferometer. Retrieval of absolute half widths and foreign gas broadening parameters from data on HX-foreign gas mixtures has long been hampered by the experimental problem of accurately determining the partial pressure of HX in the mixture.
