Author Institution: Physics Department, Texas A and M UniversityThe matrix isolation spectra of $SO_{2}$ in solid neon has been observed in absorption. For the 2000 {\AA} system the shift of the $\alpha_{2}$ bands is $-97 cm^{-1}$ while the shift of the $\alpha_{1}$ bands is $-65 cm^{-1}$ relative to the vapor measurements. For the 2900 {\AA} system the correlation of the bands of the matrix isolation spectrum with those of the vapor is uncertain. A probable shift is either $+200 cm^{-1}$ or $-20 cm^{-1}$
