With the exception of bands identified with the b $^{3}\Pi_{i}$, C $^{1}\Pi_{i}$, and V $^{1}\Sigma^{+}\leftarrow X^{1}\Sigma^{-}$ transitions, all observed bands in HCl and DCl, and all bands in HBr and DBr below $79 500 cm^{-1}$, have been correlated with states derived from the excited $(\sigma^{2}\pi^{3})c\sigma$ and $(\sigma^{2}\pi^{3})c\pi$ configurations.
