Author Institution: The Pennsylvania State UniversitySome observations will be presented on the behavior of the emission lines with respect to the position of the unperturbed absorption lines. These observations demonstrate the red shift due to argon in the Meggers 198 lamp. In addition the effect of pressure broadening by the Hg atoms themselves in the relatively high pressure are will be shown; particularly the behavior of the reversals with respect to sharp unperturbed absorption lines. Hyperfine structures of the strong visible lines have been photographed in absorption and measured. We have also made some measurements on those extremely sharp absorption lines with a Fabry Perot interferometer making use of a 52 mm spacer
