Magnetic hysteresis effects, present in the force of an E-core reluctance actuator, are examined by simulations and measurements. Simulations have been preformed with a finite element method (FEM) and a rate-dependent Preisach hysteresis model has been implemented. Both methods are compared to steady-state ac force measurements for various current excitations.
