Uniaxial compressive softening tests on two types of concrete have been carried out, varying the type of loading platen and specimen size. In total 37 specimens were tested, 18 with polished steel loading platens and 19 with teflon loading platens. Half of the specimens were made of normal strength concrete, the other half of high strength concrete. The specimen height was varied from 50 mm to 200 mm. The results are a confirmation of previous research at the Eindhoven University of Technology. More information is obtained about the limits of utility of the Eindhoven loading apparatus
