The effect of carrier-diffusion on the mode-competition in multimode semiconductor lasers

We investigate the dynamics of a semiconductor laser operating in single and multimode regime. We show that a fast diffusion process results in more efficient lasing and that the contemporary perception of a single frequency corresponding to a single device mode is not accurate in devices with slow diffusion
