In many ways, symptomatic obsessional neurosis, in relation to a nosographic classification and to treatment modalities, poses the problem of the frontier between itself and other borderline or psychotic pathologies. At present, some schools of thought question its specificity by centering their approach on symptomatic criteria (O.C.D.) and no longer on psychodynamic or structural criteria. The work of André Green on transference neuroses has revealed a structural position in psychoanalysis which illustrates the meaning of Freud's metapsychology.
