This thesis reports three experiments investigating how age-related declines in visual motion processing affect older drivers’ ability to drive safely. In particular, these experiments assess the efficacy of: 1) A test of motion sensitivity, the Peripheral Motion Contrast Threshold (PMCT) test, which evaluates ones’ contrast threshold for detecting motion in the periphery, and 2) the 3D multiple-object tracking test (3D MOT), which evaluates the maximum stimulus speed at which one can maintain visual attention on several objects moving in three dimensions.
