Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of ArtsText from page iii: The present study will rather be confined to an attempt to give a comprehensive view of Villon's work with such details as will be needed to make clear both the man and his work, which are inseparably linked. For this purpose a brief account of the known facts of Villon's life will precede the study of his works. In general, then, the present work will be the study of the work of a man who was fundamentally mediaeval, typically French, and, above all, intensely human, and it is from this point of view that the works will be considered.Included bibliographical reference
