This report is the third of a series of research evaluation guidelines in the form of 4 pamphlets, aimed at foundations that are considering how to develop and strengthen their monitoring and evaluation activity, whose production has been supported by the European Forum on Philanthropy and Research Funding (www.efc.be/research_forum). The series is best seen in the light of foundations developing their overall evaluation and monitoring strategy. Detailed questions concerning implementation can be followed up using the case studies and the list of suggested reading
