Making the Classroom More Student-Centered

The purpose of this thesis is to explore the role of behavior management techniques in the classroom and to determine if students learn best in a student-centered classroom or a teacher-centered classroom. This exploration through interviews and research, will help to find out how teachers create a positive learning environment for a diverse group of students in the classroom and how a student-centered technique versus how a teacher-centered technique works in the classroom. In my opinion, if teachers do not set up a positive learning environment for all students in their classroom, then they will not be in control of their classrooms. Classroom management/expectations and creating a positive work environment are some of the most important things to set up in the beginning of the year so that the students know that if they are respectful to the teacher and their classmates then they will be respected in return.B.S.
