The gate with critical analysis

The Gate explores conscience and the effect of the reawakening of a long buried guilt. The play focuses on David Rivers, a military research scientist who has developed a method for removing traumatic memories from individuals suffering from combat stress. Sam Evans, a mistreated former research subject, returns suffering from confusing flashes of a removed memory. The play follows David’s attempts to rescue himself from a guilt long repressed by restoring Sam’s memory. However, the contents of Sam’s memory reveal David’s true culpability.
