This article is a commissioned piece for volume V of a publication series accompanying the International Building Exhibition in Hamburg. The volume has the theme Metropolis: Cosmopolis and investigates it through sections entitled Cities and Society, Urbanity through Diversity, Opportunities Instead of Problems, and Projects of the IBA Hamburg.
