This project was to design and build a lightweight robot arm for clothes manipulation while keeping the safety factor maximal being placed in an inhabited environment. The design of the arm was based on an observation of humans manipulating clothes. The arm has to complete four major steps: (1) put dry clothes in the washer; (2) remove wet clothes from the washer; (3) put wet clothes in the drier; (4) remove clothes from the drier The arm could not accomplish its goal of being light; it was made of fairly heavy materials being aluminium, for prototyping issues, it is more reasonable to go with parts that could be modified rather than standard form moulded forms.
