Add to ORKGFamed as manufacturing innovators since 1837, the Glasgow-based James Templeton & Co produced numerous carpets for an array of occasions and interiors. In the late 1800s, the company’s design studio moved to the opulent Doge’s Palace inspired building on Glasgow Green. By 1913, Templetons were the largest manufacturers of carpet in terms of output, in the United Kingdom. This presentation will provide insights into the workings of the carpet design studio of this highly prestigious company. Connections between James Templeton & Co and The Glasgow School of Art, formed in 1845, will also be discussed
