The research described in this dissertation concerns the soil movements due to tunnelling in two layers ground condition and its effects on pre-existing historical structures. In this introductory chapter the objectives and background of the work are presented, followed by an overview of the methodology used to investigate the problem and an outline of the following chapters

The assessment of potential for building damage due to ground displacements caused by tunnelling is ...
In this paper, the influence of the foundation configuration (raft or separate footings) on tunnel–s...
Modern tunnelling methods aim to reduce ground movements arising from the construction process. In c...
The interaction mechanisms between surface structures and tunnelling-induced ground movements were i...
In urban tunnelling projects, surface buildings interact with tunnelling-induced ground movements. U...
Shallow tunnel construction inevitably causes local ground movements to occur. In an urban environme...
The present dissertation describes some of the ground movement problems associated with tunnelling i...
The responses or a pair or brick-bearing-wall structures to nearby construction or twin, shield driv...
Urbanisation will require significant expansion of underground infrastructure, which results in unav...

This paper presents a partly uncoupled procedure for the evaluation of tunnelling induced damage on...
Numerical modelling has been used for a number of years for problems relating to soft-ground tunnell...
