Titanium alloys are increasingly used for structural applications in transportation engineering (aerospace, automotive, railway, marine industry) because of their interesting properties (high mechanical properties to weight ratios, excellent corrosion resistance). In the present research work, the very high cycle fatigue behaviour of Ti–6Al–4V alloy of both bimodal and basketweave microstructures were investigated and compared. Fatigue tests at a very high number of cycles with R = −1 were carried out on titanium alloy - grade 5 specimens, cut from a forged flange used on a commercial aircraft.
