<p>Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.</p>The <i>Adult Education Survey</i> (AES) is part of the European Union (EU) statistics on education and lifelong learning. The surveys have been carried out by 29 countries in the EU, European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and candidate countries between 2005 and 2008. The EU AES is a pilot exercise which for the first time proposed a common framework including a standard questionnaire, tools and quality reporting. The surveys are planned to be conducted every five years with the next being undertaken in 2011-2012.
