Abstract: A uniquely configured vehicle suspension system, manufactured primarily of lightweight composite materials, is required for the University of Johannesburg’s 2014 Solar Powered race vehicle. For this design to reach successful completion, an assessment framework has been introduced to analyse every phase of the development. The focus of this dissertation is on the design and development of a prototype composite vehicle suspension system and the framework implemented to control the research and development process.
