The Next Big Thing: Land! Defusing the issue and sparking economic growth via Land Rent Mr Stephen Meintjes studied law at Stellenbosch and Oxford universities and was a St Andrews College Rhodes scholar. He is an investment researcher and has held many senior management positions in financial services. Mr Meintjes is currently head of research at Momentum SP Reid Securities Stockbrokers. He is well known for recommending radical change to SA’s tax system for over 20 years. He has made a detailed study of the role of rent in dealing decisively with the unemployment and poverty traps in which a large section of the South African population is now caught.
