High spectral efficiency is at the core of any effort made to achieve the data rates and capacity requirements demanded by next generation mobile technologies. Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) is considered a powerful tool for the efficient usage of spectrum and for the provision of channel adaptive error resilience. In this paper, a novel AMC based transmission scheme is introduced for Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) networks to impose adaptive error resilience on High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) based video data at the physical layer.
