Nitric oxide (NO), produced by the inducible nitric oxide synthase (NOS2) protein, is a defence mechanism against various pathogens, including bacteria of the genus Brucella. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible association between the NOS2 gene promoter polymorphism, TAAAn and CCTTTn microsatellites, and the predisposition to human brucellosis.
