Bamboo is one of the to solve problem of wood housing. Bamboo grow rapidly, have good mechanical properties and can be preserved employing simple tech niques. This research was done experimental to know physical and mechanical characteristic of bamboo that consists is water content, tensile strength, com pression strength, shear strength and bending strength. The result of experi mental, the average water content was 16,599%, the average tensile strength was 172,059 MPa, the average compression strength was 40,5 A1Pa, the aver age shear strength was, 7, 789 MPa and the average bending strength was 135,813 A1Pa. So bamboo could be used to structural material. Kev works: bamboo, water content, tensile, compression, shear, bending
