Summary of Dissertation Recitals

Committee Chair: Martin Katz Three collaborative piano recitals were given in lieu of a written dissertation. The first recital was chosen to showcase Schubert’s Winterreise, one of the landmark song cycles in the art song repertoire. The second recital consisted entirely of chamber music, in particular chamber trios containing mixed wind and string instruments with piano, a unique ensemble formation. My third recital was a lecture recital focusing on the role of folk song in classical music, especially its transition from its humble origins to the concert hall.
