The emergence of Foundation Degrees (FdA) in 2000 created a vehicle for work based qualifications which facilitated the needs those working in schools as Teaching Assistants (TA) to gain higher qualifications (Blackie 2006). In developing appropriate modules for a Foundation Degree in Learning Support consideration was given to the delivery and assessment methods. As part of this process the use of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) was employed and delivery of module content explored.
