This chapter is based on the early part of a longitudinal doctoral research project which seeks to explore the impact of resilience on the professional development and confidence of early career teachers. To date, the research has been a qualitative inquiry involving a group of secondary PGCE modern languages trainee teachers at four significant points in their initial teacher training (ITT) year. The purpose of the inquiry in the longer term is to consider implications for provision in ITT and early career development in general
