In response to government initiatives and\ud the rise in patient empowerment, nurses\ud are increasingly being challenged to deliver\ud high-quality care supported by evidencebased\ud practice. This can be a challenge for\ud nurse educators providing the foundation\ud for pre-registration student nurses.\ud Evidence-based practice within nursing\ud is achieved by developing and supporting\ud patient-centred approaches to care using\ud the most current evidence. This facilitates\ud the development of a questioning\ud approach incorporating the four principles\ud of healthcare ethics – beneficence,\ud non-maleficence, autonomy and justice
