BACKGROUND A study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between daily hospital admissions for asthma and air pollution in London in 1987-92 and the possible confounding and modifying effects of airborne pollen.\ud METHODS For all ages together and the age groups 0-14, 15-64 and 65+ years, Poisson regression was used to estimate the relative risk of daily asthma admissions associated with changes in ozone, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and particles (black smoke), controlling for time trends, seasonal factors, calendar effects, influenza epidemics, temperature, humidity, and autocorrelation. Independent effects of individual pollutants and interactions with aeroallergens were explored using two pollutant models and models inclu...
In the last 15 years, asthma has become more prevalent, and now affects 1 in 7 children in Britain (...
Objective To examine the association of air pollutants with hospital admission for childhood asthma ...
We read with great interest the recent study by Chen and colleagues [1] which showed an increased ri...
BACKGROUND A study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between daily hospital admissions ...
Epidemiology studies have shown that ambient concentrations of ozone and fine particulate matter (PM...
Exposure to pollen can contribute to increased hospital admissions for asthma exacerbation. This stu...
Many epidemiological studies have shown positive short-term associations between health and current ...
Air pollution is considered a risk factor for asthma. In this paper, we analyze the association betw...
Aims: To assess the relationship between levels of ambient air pollutants and hospitalization rates ...
There have been several studies of the relationships between environmental factors, particularly air...
Objective: To examine the association of air pollutants with hospital admission for childhood asthma...
We investigated the short-term effects of particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter <10 μg/m3 ...
