peer reviewedThe most frequent way to use confidence degrees in school assessment consists in asking studnets to do it with confidence degrees defined as "Not sure at all", "very weakly sure", "weakly sure", "sure", "strongly sure" and "extremely sure". This research has studied how samples of adulots translate into percentages of chances (%) to be correct such verbal expressions. Therefore, two experience settings, very easy to replicate, have been designed and applied; one out of context and the other in context. Results permit to confort 5 hypothesis: (1) a preference for multiple of 10%, (2) a high intra-individual repeatability; (3) a sensitivity to question difficulty; (4) enormous interindividual differences; (5) a similarity of resu...
