This research is aimed at designing and synthesizing porous biomolecule-based materials for biological applications, such as a drug delivery. As a first step in this direction, developing a rational synthetic method to control the coordination chemistry between nucleobases and metal ions with the aim of organizing nucleobases into structurally well-defined porous materials has been studied. As a result, several interesting frameworks have been synthesized and characterized so far.
