Main portal of Karatay Han, Caravansarai in Kayseri. Located in Karadayı village in the district Bünyan, Kayseri, Karatay Caravansarai was commissioned by the Emir of the city Celaleddin Karatay, serving the Seljuk sultan and built in 1240. Similar to earlier example, Sultan Han Caravansarai located 45 km far from Kayseri, which was built during the reign of the Seljuk sultan Kayqubad I in 1229, Karatay Han also welcomes visitors with a magnificent main portal which epitomizes stone craftsmanship of Seljuk decorative arts. The portal is set in the thick wall of the caravanserai below a muqarnas niche. From the entrance one passes through the thickness of the walls into the courtyard, in the middle of which is a masjid.135 film (36×24 mm
