Yılanlıkale near Muwatalli relief at Sirkeli. Located southwest of the Yılanlıkale ruins, Muwatalli relief is also known as Sirkeli relief since it was found near the old Misis-Ceyhan road by Sirkeli village. The relief was carved on a rock wall facing the Ceyhan river about 5 m. above the water level. The rock platform above the relief has two separated rock blocks with deep cracks between them. The relief depicts a Hittite king, Muwatalli, with a long robe. Dedicatory inscriptions to the right of the relief reads as "Muwatalli, Great King, the Hero, (son of) Mursili, Great King, the Hero," referring to Muwatalli II (1306-1282 BC), the son of Mursili II, and that makes the monument the oldest Hittite rock-relief currently known.135 film (3...
