Landscape of the Osmankayası tomb rock at the burial site of Hattusa. As a common practice, the Hittites buried or cremated corpses and the remains were put into ceramic vase and placed in the rocks at the burial sites such as Osmankayası which was found 400 meters away from the Yazılıkaya (Inscribed Rock), holy site for the Hittites, located within walking distance of the gates of the city of Hattusa, the capital city of the Hittite Empire, today in the Çorum Province, Turkey. According to excavation research, bone remains of animals such as lambs and goats found at the burial site suggest that the Hittites were practicing libation as an offering to the Hittite gods or in memory of those who have died.135 film (36×24 mm
