: Redundancy and note-taking

The influence of the formats of presentation on the training of multi-media documents is today the subject of many studies. In the present study, the studied formats were different according to the level of redundancy between the oral examination and the writing. A teaching document where the explanations were heard was compared with documents where this same explanation was presented simultaneously with the written format, either in its entirety or in a synthetic way. This comparison was carried out in a situation where the subjects could or could not take notes. The results show both a negative effect of the total redundancy on comprehension and the fact that this effect appears only under the condition without catches of notes.L'influence des formats de présentation sur l'apprentissage de documents multimédias fait aujourd'hui l'objet de nombreuses études. Dans la présente étude, les formats étudiés se différenciaient selon le niveau de redondance des informations orales et écrites. Un document pédagogique où les explications étaient entendues a été comparé à des documents où cette même explication était présentée simultanément à l'écrit, soit dans son intégralité soit de manière synthétique. Cette comparaison a été effectuée dans une situation ou les sujets pouvaient ou non prendre des notes. Les résultats montrent un effet négatif de la redondance totale sur la compréhension mais aussi que cet effet n'apparaît que dans la condition sans prises de notes
