The present communication reports on an experiment in which a whole semester course was replaced by a mixed formula consisting in a CD-ROM completed by a series of seminars and hands-on workshops.<br />The CD-ROM designed for this purpose uses Netscape as a way to pilot activities. A pedagogical concept has been added to this hypermedia, under the form of challenges to meet. Three different guidance modalities are available. A multiple-choice questionnaire accompanies each challenge. It allows both to foster self-evaluation and to give direct access to insufficiently studied portions of the<br />material.
