Deux gros outils en alliage cuivreux de la fin du bronze final découverts sur les fouilles 2002 au Hexenberg, Leutenheim (Bas-Rhin).

National audienceThis article presents briefly the results of the excavations carried out in 2002 on the Hexenberg site at Leutenheim (50 kilometres to the north of Strasbourg). A recent article in this review had given a progress report on the excavations carried out between 1994 and 1999. This year two tools of exceptional size were discovered. These bronze tools have some original characteristics, like their perfect state of conservation and an median octagonal section. The smallest tool has a semicircular edge and can be classified in the family of the gouges. This type of object is also known at the same time in Switzerland and Italy. The second tool and largest has a right edge, and constitutes the first graver of bronze age discovered in Alsace. The assumption of tools intended for the work of wood was retained. Their resemblance made thought that they come from the same bronze workshop. The discovery context (on the surface of the ground), the consequent weight of these tools, like their size, does not allow their simple loss. They would have rather been on the spot abandoned following an event exceptional, difficult to perceive, having obliged the inhabitants to flee.Cet article présente brièvement le résultat des fouilles menées en 2002 sur le site du Hexenberg à Leutenheim à une cinquantaine de kilomètres au nord de Strasbourg. Un récent article dans la même revue avait fait le point sur les fouilles menées de 1994 à 1999. Cette année deux outils de taille exceptionnelle ont été mis au jour. Ces derniers présentent certaines particularités originales comme leur parfait état de conservation et une section octogonale médiane. Le plus petit outil a un tranchant semi-circulaire et peut-être rangé dans la famille des gouges. Ce type d'objet est également connu à la même époque en Suisse et en Italie. Le second outil et le plus grand a un tranchant droit, et constitue le premier burin de l'âge du bronze découvert en Alsace. L'hypothèse d'outils destinés au travail du bois a été retenue. Leur ressemblance fait penser qu'ils proviennent d'un même atelier de bronzier. Le contexte de découverte (à la surface du niveau de circulation), le poids conséquent de ces outils, ainsi que leur taille, ne permettent pas d'envisager leur simple perte. Ils auraient plutôt été abandonnés sur place à la suite d'un événement exceptionnel, difficile à percevoir, ayant obligé les habitants à fuir
