International audienceThis article systematically analyzises the conflicts between the Hospital of the Holy Ghost (Nuremberg) and the tenants of one of its villages (Simonshofen), relating to arrears. Though these arrears were quantitatively extremly important, the lord used only rarely the possibility of judicial enforcement of these debts. The reason was by no way that the judicial system would not have been able to insure such an enforcement - and indeed the Hospital used very often judicial procedures.
