ISBN 978-2-7355-0642-2 - PDF disponible pour un usage privé sur demande au premier auteurBeginning with the assumption that the initial geographical distribution of the prehistoric sites being considered was not by chance, but was a response to certain orders of physiographic, environmental and cultural criteria, the distribution of sites of the Upper Magdalenian on the middle course of the Allier River, between about 15 000 and 12 000 years before the present (Dryas I, Bölling and Dryas II), is examined from the perspective of human interaction with the physical, faunal and floral environment. Several types of sites are distinguished and their function within a conceptualized territory is discussed. The elements of movable art and the objects of collection are representative of different local aspects of subsistence but also indicate participation within a wider human community, through exchanges of non functional goods and the movement of people well beyond the studied zone as indicated by previous data that established the importation of flints from distant sources. Our conclusion proposes a certain number of keys likely to have given rise to the conception (conceptualization?) of an hierarchical structure, both functional and mythical, of the regional territory and its components. These cognitive resource maps, conceived of by the Magdalenians, enabled them to pass on the encoded territorial resource structures.Partant du postulat que la distribution géographique initiale des sites préhistoriques ne résultait pas du hasard, mais répondait à un certain nombre de critères d'ordres physiographique, mésologique et culturel, la distribution des sites du Magdalénien moyen et supérieur sur le cours moyen de l'Allier, entre 16 000 et 12 000 ans environ avant le présent (Dryas I, Bölling et Dryas II), est examinée dans la perspective des rapports de l'homme avec son environnement physique, animal et végétal. Plusieurs types de sites sont distingués et leur fonction au sein d'un territoire conceptualisé est discutée. Les éléments d'art mobilier et les objets de collection sont représentatifs des différents aspects de subsistance locaux mais également de l'appartenance à une plus vaste communauté, attestant d'échanges de biens non fonctionnels et de déplacements de personnes bien au-delà de la zone étudiée, en accord avec les données antérieures qui établissaient l'importation de silex lointains. En conclusion, il est proposé d'identifier un certain nombre de clefs susceptibles d'avoir fondé la conception (conceptualisation ?) et la hiérarchisation, tout à la fois fonctionnelle et mythique, du territoire régional et de ses composantes tels que les Magdaléniens ont pu les penser et les décrire, puis voulu en transmettre les codes et la structuration
