From the seventies – the start of the “back to nature” movement – up to the present, groups of people have been settling in the Cévennes in pursuit of better living conditions, but mainly because they are looking for a way of life that is consistent with the ideas they believe in. Although their social and geographic backgrounds, the paths they have followed and their settlement conditions are heterogeneous, the vast majority of the parents surveyed indicate that one of their strongest motivations for coming to and settling in such a remote area was education for their children.
