This paper attempts to shed light on the erudite traditions used by Lycophron while describing Aeneas' wanderings in Etruria and Latium (Alexandra, 1230-1258) : which traditions does Lycophron expect his readers to know ? How does he understands the ethnography of Italy and the origins of the Etruscan and Roman peoples ? How far is he concerned with involving in his account « local » traditions and myths that would seem to require a considerable erudition on the part of his readers ?
