Pour une ‘écriture plurielle' : la littérature italienne de la migration

Starting from a possible definition of “Italian migration literature”, this study intends to analyze the formal, linguistic, thematic, cultural and social impact that the work in prose and verse of various migrant authors residing in Italy and writing in Italian exercises on the literary system of the host country. Drawing on the notions of migration, wandering and exile, this type of literary production demands that today's literary criticism redefine the traditional parameters that until now have determined the canon of national cultural and literary systems based on the identity-culture-language paradigm. The migrant author, writing in a pluralistic style capable of challenging the notion of mono-cultural culture and of being on the boundary between a weakening language of origin and a language to discover and master, produces a literature that may be considered a veritable laboratory of linguistic, cultural and social transformation.<br />Italian migration literature thus introduces into the contemporary Italian literary system the idea of expatriation, migration and mixed and composite identity and—just as literature produced by Italians residing abroad—contributes to the development of an italophone literature which is at the heart of the general system of “European diaspora literature.” We will attempt to clarify from a critical and methodological point of view the stages of this process which, on the one hand promotes contact between vastly different languages and cultures and, on the other hand, allows an entirely new approach to the crucial question of cultural identity as well as the current phenomenon of “cultural miscegenation”.À partir d'une définition possible de ‘littérature italienne de la migration', cette étude vise à analyser l'impact formel, linguistique, thématique, culturel et social que l'œuvre en prose et en vers des différents auteurs migrants résidant en Italie et écrivant en langue italienne exerce sur le système littéraire du pays d'accueil. S'appuyant sur les notions de migration, d'errance et d'exil, ce type de production littéraire demande aujourd'hui à la critique de redéfinir les paramètres traditionnels qui ont déterminé jusqu'à présent le canon des systèmes culturels et littéraires nationaux fondés sur le paradigme identité-culture-langue. L'auteur migrant, s'exprimant à travers une écriture plurielle capable de lancer un défi à la notion de culture monoculturelle et de se situer à la frontière entre un univers et une langue de l'origine qui s'affaiblissent et un univers et une langue à découvrir et à maîtriser, réalise une littérature que nous pouvons considérer comme un véritable laboratoire de transformation linguistique, culturelle et sociale.<br />La littérature italienne de la migration introduit ainsi à l'intérieur du système littéraire italien contemporain l'idée d'expatriation, de migration et d'identité mixte et composite et – tout comme la littérature produite par les Italiens résidant à l'étranger – contribue désormais à l'élaboration d'une littérature italophone qui se place au sein du système général des ‘littératures européennes de la diaspora'. Il nous appartiendra d'éclairer d'un point de vue critique et méthodologique les étapes de ce processus qui, d'une part, favorise le contact entre les langues et les cultures les plus diverses et, d'autre part, permet d'aborder dans une perspective inédite la question cruciale de l'identité culturelle ainsi que le phénomène actuel des ‘métissages culturels'
