International audienceReduplication is found in various Tibeto-burman languages, such as Hayu (Michailovsky, 1988 : 71, 98) or Lahu (Matisoff, 1973). In this article, we set out to show that reduplication is also very widespread in the two major languages of the family, namely Burmese ans standard Tibetan. We distinguish two types of réduplication : simple reduplication and complex reduplication, the latter implying the presence of an external element in addition to the simplex and its copy.
