Based on 14 interviews conducted in 2001, this study aims at analyzing the note-taking strategies of the international students attending the Université du Maine. In this paper, the analysis of the representations of the non-native note-takers will be circumscribed and l'illusion référentielle (Mondada : 2000) will be avoided. The article is divided in two parts: In the first part, the discursive signs of the student's individualization regarding her/his own practices will be observed.
