International audienceThis article addresses the development of reported speech in the productions of German secondary school students in their first four years of French language training. Data are based on retellings of selected scenes of a silent film, and analysis focuses on the ways in which subjects report on the speech of differentprotagonists. The subjects' productions are compared to those of native speakers in a similar context. This study proposes to consider the diverses forms of reported speech that exist in terms of the possible interaction between organizing principles at the discourse and sentence level.
