CARTOGRAPHIE DE L'UTILISATION DU SOL ET DE L'ÉROSION NETTE À PARTIR D'IMAGES SATELLITAIRES ET DU SIG IDRISI AU NORD-EST DU MAROC

International audienceIn this investigation, we utilize remote sensing data (four Landsat and Spot images were analyzed for a fifteen year period: 1987 - 2002) and a GIS for the quantitative evaluation as well as developing the spatial patterns of erosion and deposition within the Oued Tlata basin (123 km2) located in north-east of Morocco. This contribution's primary objective is to integrate RUSLE's output data into a flow model (sedimentation) to access the net soil erosion and to identify priority areas (zones of high soil loss or deposition) for possible interventions to curtail and ameliorate land degradation. Analysis of these satellite data allowed the identification of six main land cover types (highly degraded lands, cereal (annual) crops fields, mixed farmlands, olive trees, reforested areas, and natural protected forest). After the determination of the areal distribution of each land type for each date, soil losses were estimated through the incorporation of a developed RUSLE (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation) module in the framework of Idrisi GIS. These static spatial estimates of soil loss were then utilized in a newly developed sedimentation algorithm that models the down slope movement of the soil loss. These spatial (flow) movements were then evaluated to determine net erosion and deposition within the river basin for each time period. The patterns of soil loss and deposition over the duration of the study period show a relation to both the changing land cover and the land facets found within the river basin. The consideration of the erosion and deposition phenomenon at the same time in the study of the soil degradation process represents the originality of this work.Le présent travail expose les résultats de notre étude concernant la cartographie de l'évolution spatio-temporelle de l'occupation du sol à partir des données de télédétection (images Spot et Landsat) sur une période de 15 ans (1987-2002) d'une part, et la modélisation des processus d'érosion et de déposition d'autre part. Dans le bassin versant de l'Oued Tlata (123 km2) situé au nord-est du Maroc, l'analyse de données satellitaires a permis d'identifier six principaux types d'occupation du sol (terrains fortement dégradées, céréalicultures, mélange de céréalicultures et arboricultures, oliviers, reboisement et forêt claire). Ensuite, les pertes de sol ont été estimées par le module RUSLE intégré dans le SIG Idrisi. Ces évaluations spatiales statiques des pertes de sol ont été alors utilisées dans un algorithme de sédimentation qui modélise le mouvement de ces pertes en sol vers l'exutoire et permet d'estimer l'érosion nette. Les résultats obtenus permettent l'identification des secteurs à l'échelle du bassin où les interventions sont nécessaires pour limiter les processus de dégradation des sols
