International audienceThe site of Rouazi at Skhirat contains a large necropolis as well as the remains of a human settlement, both testifying to a significant middle Neolithic occupation of the coastal Moroccan Meseta. Geological work conducted here allows the stratigraphic context of the settlement to be defined and its Holocene environment to be described. This work also provides detailed information on the morphological evolution of this littoral area. The Neolithic settlement was placed on the coastline's backshore, close to a braided river mouth, during a period of relative coastline stability.
