International audienceExcavations at the site of Kebara Cave, located in the southern part of Mount Carmel (northwestern Israel), have yielded a large number of human remains associated with a Mousterian archaeological context. The first specimen discovered in 1965, during the excavations of M. Stekelis, was an incomplete infant skeleton (Kebara 1). Almost two decades later, an adult skeleton was recovered in 1983, during the second season of the renewed excavations, which were conducted over a period of nine years, by a multidisciplinary team. Both specimens have already been published, along with a few isolated teeth referred to Kebara 3 and 4.
