International audienceUntil now in Zenaga Berber, the formal distinction between a static and a dynamic form appeared limited to the cases in which an adjective was found. But a recent survey revealed that a simple vocalic game could also for certain forms differentiate two verbs. For example, wär yä'wur ‘it is not dry' and wär yu'wur ‘it has not dried.' With this state verb (qualitative) characterized by a constant vocalism a — i/u, the number of semantic subclasses is brought to three, as in literary Arabic.
